WHAT IS MedNAIS™?
MedNAIS is a unique smartwatch for preanalytical phase management and exact sampling time tracking. It is specially designed for medical nurses responsible for sample collection procedures. MedNAIS is an integrated smart assistant based on EFLM recommendations for good practices in phlebotomy.
HOW MedNAIS™ CAN BENCHMARK PREANALYTICS?
It is a hands-free device for medical nurses used for linking Patient_ID or Order_ID barcodes to Sample_ID barcodes on the tubes adding a specific timestamp, which is considered the most accurate sample collection time that help to track and reject expired samples before placing it into the analyzer.
PATIENT VALIDATION
All patients must be positively identified. The more data is used to identify the patient, the smaller is the chance of patient identification errors. Patient picture, name, date of birth, health insurance number can be described on MedNAIS’ screen and verified with each patient.
PATIENT STATE CHECK-UP
Another reminder from our smart assistant MedNAIS based on EFLM recommendation is a PATIENT STATE CHECK-UP. Blood for all blood tests should be drawn in the morning (between 7 and 9 am) in a fasting state, 12 hours after the last meal, 24 hours without alcohol and physical activity.
ORDER OF DRAW
Depending on the number of different tubes needed for venous blood sampling for each patient MedNAIS displays the color code of the tubes in the correct order according to EFLM recommendations.
TOURNIQUET APPLICATION TIME
When a tourniquet is used, a phlebotomist should make sure that the total tourniquet time is up to 1 minute. It should be removed as soon as the blood flows into the first tube. Therefore MedNAIS provides a prompt notification about elapsed time.
AFTER SAMPLING TUBE MIXING
When all tubes are collected and needle is removed from the patient vein, MedNAIS reminds the nurse to mix all tubes at least 4 more times.
HOW MedNAIS™ COULD BE INTEGRATED INTO HIS?
MedNAIS’ software is based on international standard HL7 FHIR. MedNAIS’ Personalized Mode supports bidirectional integration with HIS like any other laboratory equipment.
ANONYMOUS MODE. WHAT IS IT?
Anonymous mode supports one way data exchange from MedNAIS to HIS of the customer, with no access to personalized data of the patients. In this mode MedNAIS can scan and align Patient_ID barcodes to Sample_ID barcodes with a time stamp and send this data to HIS.
MedNAIS™ SMART ASSISTANT. WHAT IS IT?
Integrated smart assistant for the mednurse provides notifications for best practices in phlebotomy based on EFLM recommendations (patient state check-up reminder, patient validation, order of draw, tourniquet application time and after sampling tube mixing).
EXACT SAMPLING TIME. WHAT IS IT?
During sampling procedure the medical nurse immediately scans with MedNAIS the Sample_ID barcode placed on the tube or specimen container. Each scan aligned with the time which is considered the most exact sampling time. MedNAIS is the only hands free device that doesn’t interfere with the nurse, so that she can scan tubes without stopping the whole procedure.
HOW MedNAIS™ CAN SAVE MONEY FOR THE LABORATORIES?
Precise sampling timestamp will help to track the stability of the analytes. By rejecting expired samples the laboratories will save the cost of reagents, disposables, human resources and operational time.
WHERE MedNAIS™ CAN BE USED?
MedNAIS has WIFI and GPS connection modules so it can be used for in and out hospital patients, in emergency cases, in GPs and everywhere in the field.
IS PATIENT DATA SAFE WHEN USING MedNAIS™?
MedNAIS data is stored on HIPAA GDPR compliant Cloud Platform from Google or Amazon. Also, MedNAIS service can be installed on Customer local servers and full data control will be managed by the Customer.
HOW DOES MedNAIS™ ENSURE SAMPLE INTEGRITY?
The MedNAIS™ Logger monitors key conditions during sample transportation, including temperature, humidity, vibration, and GPS location. If any parameter deviates from the safe range, real-time alerts are sent, allowing for immediate corrective action. This ensures samples remain intact and reliable upon arrival.
CAN MedNAIS™ BE CUSTOMIZED FOR DIFFERENT HEALTHCARE FACILITIES?
Absolutely! MedNAIS™ Corporate subscription allows hospitals to import their own SOPs, set specific KPIs, and even customize the branding within the app. This makes it easy for hospitals to tailor MedNAIS™ to their specific needs and protocols, ensuring it fits seamlessly into existing workflows.
IS MedNAIS™ AVAILABLE ON MULTIPLE PLATFORMS?
Yes, MedNAIS™ is available for iOS and Android. The platform is accessible on smartphones and is also compatible with Apple and Android smartwatches, allowing medical staff to access SOPs, track performance, and manage workflows on the go.
HOW DOES MedNAIS™ HELP PREVENT SAMPLE LOSSES, AND WHAT COST SAVINGS DOES THIS BRING?
The MedNAIS™ Logger provides real-time monitoring of sample conditions, including temperature, humidity, vibration, and GPS tracking. If conditions fall outside safe ranges, immediate alerts allow corrective action to be taken before samples are compromised. This reduces the need to recollect samples, saving money associated with repeat tests, sample replacements, and potential patient dissatisfaction.
CAN MedNAIS™ HELP REDUCE TRAINING COSTS FOR NEW STAFF?
Yes, MedNAIS™ serves as a training tool by providing on-demand SOPs and eLearning modules accessible through smartphones and smartwatches. This means new staff can learn protocols on the go without needing extensive, costly training sessions. Additionally, the platform’s step-by-step guidance helps new hires quickly adapt to workflows, reducing onboarding time and training costs.
